Excessive Sweating – Causes and Remedies

Excessive sweating is not a normal condition when a person sweat profusely even without any strenuous activity.  Of course sweating is a process that keeps our body healthy.  It allows us to get rid of the toxins from our body.  However, sweating too much can be a disorder when it is beyond what is normal.  Its medical term is hyperhodrosis.

There are 2 kinds of hyperhodrosis.  First, is the primary hyperhodrosis.  The main reason for this is the overly active sympathetic nervous system.  The areas most affected with this type are the underarms, hands, face and feet. Effects of this to the person can be threatening to his personality.  But there are ways to counter this problem.

The second type is the secondary hyperhodrosis.  This is when the cause of excessive sweating is not the over-active sympathetic nervous system but rather another medical condition.  These may be hyperthyroidism, diabetes, autoimmune disorders, arthritis and many others.  Psychological disorders like panic attacks and anxiety can also cause abnormal sweating.

Excessive underarm sweating is a serious problem.  Yes, it can be.  This is because it can bring one to a state of loneliness and isolation when no remedies are done.  There are times when persons affected with this problem suffer in silence.  People to have would not want to be associated with them.  They are treated differently.  In effect they do not have the opportunity to lead a normal life where interaction with others is very essential.  Some lose confidence and self-esteem is eroded.

But people who suffer from this should not sulk.  Be proactive in looking for solutions because there are surely remedies for this.  It may not stop but it can be controlled and you also end up being in control of your life once again.  There are strong anti-perspirant for this type of condition.  Drysol is an example which is said to be very effective according to people who have tried it.  Underarm sweat pads can also help.  You can use these pads.  It works like a panty liner actually.  It is jut that you put it on the underarm area of your shirt.  The pads will absorb excessive sweat and can help you from not smelling bad.  What you can do to enhance your protection is that you can bring an extra shirt, antiperspirant, soap and a little towel, extra underarm sweat guards in your bag.  So that when you go out to work, you do not have to wait until you will smell awful.  During your lunch break, make it a habit to wash your underarms, put on an antiperspirant and change shirt with fresh pads.

Another form of sweating too much is excessive head sweating.  This can also be embarrassing.  It seems like you have gone through a strenuous activity all the time with your head always looking damp.  This can really be a pester.  Excessive head sweating is a bit difficult to handle because it is not something you can really hide. Good for men because they can always cut their hair the shortest possible way.  This will make their problem more manageable.  For women, it can be a problem, although cutting the hair short is also possible.   You can consult a professional for treatments for this.  There are herbal medicines that help control this head sweating.

Excessive body sweating is another and this is also bothersome.  What you can do is take a bath as many as you would want just to keep you from feeling and looking fresh.  You can use a cold water to close your pores.  You also need anti-perpirant foam.  Use comfortable clothing all the time.  Cotton is most recommended.

Excessive sweating face is another.  What you can do with this is always bring a face towel, facial soap or you can bring a facial cleanser with you.  Every time you experience excessive sweating on the face, you can always wash your face to soothe your sweat glands.  This will keep you look fresh.

Excessive sweating causes can because of primary hyperhodrosis and secondary hyprhodrosis as what was briefly mentioned earlier.  Knowing the exact cause in important.  It is best to seek professional help to avoid complications in the future.

There are foods that trigger excessive sweating.  These are spicy foods.  What is excessive sweating alcohol? This can mean that profuse sweating is triggered by alcohol intake.  So, it is advisable not to drink alcohol because it will just make matters worst.
